The Health Care Informatics Certificate program provides an opportunity for healthcare professionals, particularly those without a BS in Nursing, to acquire knowledge and skills in the rapidly progressing field of informatics.

With the recent movement towards the adoption of electronic health records and the need for IT infrastructure to increase patient safety and facilitate evidence-based practice, there is a growing need for more informatics specialists. This certificate provides opportunities for those new to the field or those who may be practicing in the field and need a professional update.

Program Details

Graduates of this certificate program are qualified to sit for a certification exam, which is a prerequisite for the licensure exam. As such, though this program does not license a student to practice, it serves as a step on the path towards being licensed.

Timeline

To receive a Health Care Informatics Certificate, students must complete 16 credit hours of coursework, which students usually do in 32 weeks.
